Haunted House – Take 2

I rendered out a version part-way through, before I created most of the textures…

I made a couple of mods to the height of the second story and started texturing – but I will redo the textures on this as there are still a few little glitches (all part of the process!).  I also would like to put some kind of interior into this, but haven’t really thought that part through too much.  I still have to sort out exactly what I’m doing with this so that I don’t overdo the modeling in areas that don’t need it (like the interior).

Haunted House, Ghost and Bat

I thought I’d make a Halloween scene so have started a bit of modeling…

The bat and the ghost are rigged – but will be ‘WIP’ for a while (isn’t everything?)

I also started a vampire but my character modeling needs a lot of work!!!

AncientBoy (in progress)

I’ve been working on this model for the past couple of weeks and it’s starting to come together.  I’ve actually “restarted” this one a few times, working through some of the issues that come up but so far I’ve managed to solve most of the problems.  Here’s a 720p render of the model as it is right now (texture painted in Blender Render but with the textures baked and applied to Cycles).

The past few days I’ve been working on rigging the model – I started the process last week but ran into issues on Thursday and ended up restarting things after that.  Here’s a picture of the model with the animation controls visible (although most of the armatures/bones have been hidden)…

I have to tweak the textures a bit more yet but it’s almost ready to start to animate (although I may have another look at the arms/hands as I’m not really happy with them at the moment).  I’d hate to add up the time I have into this model but that’s not something I really track as long as I’m moving forward!

Surprised Squatch!

I am starting to think about modeling heads, eyes, etc – and was mucking about with this yesterday.  It looked so “surprised” that I had to build a little scene with a spotlight to show off the big, wide eyes!  More fun!

HD Animated Scene (pre-historic)

Start to finish (with most models already built) about 6 or 7 hours to build the landscape, texture paint it, import the models, build weeds and lily. Render of the individual frames (900 in this case) using Blender Render (not cycles) took another 3 hours or so. This is my longest animation yet at about 30 seconds so there’s hope yet for longer stuff!

Robot Animation

I just completed Darren Lile’s Udemy course “Learn Animation Production” and as result created this short animation.

I’m happy with the results (except the render times are a little nasty – even at this low resolution/samples the average to render each frame was between 6 and 10 minutes)…

Animation Production course

Just starting to rig the bot – but thought I’d render a still image…

I have learned lots about materials/textures/uv maps etc the last couple of sessions so those tools will come in handy for future projects!

Bot in progress from a new course/project…

Front View

Rear View

It won’t look like this when it’s finished – but I just “chromed” it and then added a mesh modifier to highlight all of the individual pieces as a test.  Kind of a cool look…

The courses I’m taking are all from Udemy and usually cost less than $20 each.  This particular one is the first one I’ve done that is instructed by Darren Lile – but I’m familiar with his Blender work from watching his Youtube channel.  Talented guy and I’m learning lots (again!!!).  Some day my toolkit will be filled (with any luck!)

Cedar Rocket

I finished this model and short animation about 10 days ago.

Fun to build and I got to try out a bunch of things that I’ve recently learned…
